BREAD, LOVE, AND CHOCOLATE

The Fair with the Sweet Scent of Love …

from February 12th to 14th, 2010
Port Vauban – Antibes
FREE ADMISSION FROM 9 AM TO 7 PM

The fair aims to be a moment of conviviality and sharing where tradition and creativity blend to highlight the crafts of bakery, pastry, and chocolate making.

jpg_resized_0DSC_6185.jpgFor three days, between Port Vauban and the ramparts, the talent of master bakers and pastry chefs along with the delicious products of French and Italian artisans will delight the eyes and palate of thousands of food lovers. Meanwhile, the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of the Alpes-Maritimes has been mobilized to propose numerous original gift ideas: costume jewelry, teddy bears, fashion accessories, decorative objects, perfumes, not to mention the sweet treats (candies, chocolates, etc.) to give freely to one’s sweetheart.

Indeed, entertainment and demonstrations are the key themes of this major event, designed to satisfy both young and old alike, with conferences on the theme of breads and products of excellence, tastings, as well as gourmet workshops for children.

Chocolate and Cinema
On the occasion of Bread, Love, and Chocolate, the film “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (original title: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) by Mel Stuart will be screened.
This true cult film from 1971, reimagined by Tim Burton in 2005, will be in French cinemas, in restored version, from February 10th, and also at the Bread, Love, and Chocolate fair.

More and More Delicious!
In the first year, the public were privileged witnesses to the creation of a chocolate that would become the emblem of the event: “Le Rocher de la Riviera”: a casing of almond paste with a heart of candied orange or lemon, coated in fine chocolate with chopped almonds. Two years ago, “La Fougasse de la Riviera” was born, made with products from our Provençal region (olives, anchovies). Last year, it was “La Mandarinette” that was presented, a tart with a creamy mandarin topping topped with Italian meringue. And this year, a new specialty will be presented: “Le Macariviera”, a heart-shaped macaron with Corsican clementine cream.

The Public in the Spotlight!
Thanks to the presence of a complete open-air bakery (ovens, mixers, beaters, racks, tables, etc.), a truly original pastry and chocolate laboratory offers various activities for the public.
The public, who thus become both tasters and participants, is invited to various activities: from tasting to demonstrations of expertise, through bakery, pastry, and chocolate-making workshops, as well as baking initiation workshops and a conference for students from Antibes Juan-Les-Pins schools, not to mention the creation of true works of art by master chefs, presentations by French artisans of artistic chocolate pieces and other regional bakery specialties.

An Entire Town Celebrating Love!
is not limited to the boundaries of the fair: the whole town of Antibes participates in the celebration of love with the initiative “Bread, Love and Chocolate invites you…” carried out in collaboration with the Union of Antibes Hotels and Juan-les-Pins.
Antibes merchants have chosen to join in the fun, with products dedicated to lovers, according to the spirit of the fair. Restaurants, artists, wine cellars, typically Mediterranean beauty products, cafes, chocolatiers, beaches…
