Nissa la Belle does not forget its distant transalpine origins and the presence of a large and longstanding Italian community, some of whose descendants have made their mark in various areas of city life.
Moreover, when bearing surnames like Estrosi—and the list could go on—one cannot claim otherwise, even in these times when the mere word ‘immigration’ makes the hair stand on end of those who were often the migrants of another era.
At the initiative of the municipal councilor delegated to cross-border relations, Laurence Navalesi—who represented the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi—and in the presence of Consul General Mr. Raffaele De Benedictis, a large delegation of Italian or Franco-Italian or Italian-Nice citizens, along with their associations (Comites, Dante Alighieri, Italian Chamber of Commerce, and others) gathered for the traditional King’s Cake at City Hall.
It was also an opportunity to exchange wishes for the year that has just begun and discuss programs to better enhance the presence of these dual-culture communities that can contribute to the well-being of city life.
