The Marinières en Rose handed over a check of €11,000 to the CHPG of Monaco to support women with breast cancer. The event, organized in Villefranche-sur-Mer, brought together nearly 500 participants in a show of solidarity.
Last Friday, the wedding hall of the Villefranche-sur-Mer town hall hosted a significant moment. The team from Marinières en Rose, in association with the Traversée de la Rade 2025, presented a check of €11,000 to Madame Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, director of the Princess Grace Hospital Centre (CHPG) of Monaco.
This amount will fund supportive care for women undergoing breast cancer treatment: psychological support, adapted physical activities, aesthetic and wellness care.
The sports event united participants, volunteers, partners, and local merchants around the same cause. All contributed to this collection, a symbol of a shared commitment. Around Benjamin Mondou and Patricia Plessis, representatives of Century 21 Lafage, the organizers reminded that the initiative goes beyond the sporting dimension. It is part of a movement of solidarity and sharing that unites the region’s inhabitants.
“Les Marinières en Rose is, above all, a heartfelt adventure. Seeing our teams come together for such an important cause as the fight against breast cancer deeply touches me. This commitment is part of who we are at Century 21 Lafage: men and women united around values of solidarity and kindness.” These words, spoken by Benjamin Mondou, summed up the spirit of the day.
An edition marked by participation and emotion
This 4th edition of the Marinières en Rose, associated with the 1st Traversée de la Rade, gathered nearly 500 participants who took part in one of the seven races on the program. Between swimming and running, the event had a festive atmosphere under a bright sky. For many, it was an opportunity to combine physical effort with collective commitment, in line with Octobre Rose.
The presence of the mayor of Villefranche-sur-Mer, Christophe Trojani, elected officials, loyal partners, and CHPG representatives reinforced the official nature of the ceremony. Everyone praised the mobilization of an entire territory around a common goal: supporting women affected by the disease and highlighting the importance of screening.
An emotional moment swept through the room when Pierre, the husband of Isabelle—close friend and inspiration for the project—was mentioned. The mention of his name reminded everyone that behind every action, there are faces, journeys, and human stories.
The handing over of the check was done with sobriety but also in an atmosphere of recognition. Applause greeted the work of volunteers and the generosity of the participants. All contributed to transforming a sporting event into a concrete gesture of support.
The organizers emphasized the continuity of the project. They hope that this momentum will not stop at the handover day but will continue through regular awareness and solidarity actions. The success of this edition demonstrates the place Les Marinières en Rose has taken in the local calendar.
The initiative illustrates the ability of a collective to mobilize, unite, and convey values of benevolence. The amount donated to the CHPG will improve the daily lives of patients by funding care that accompanies medical treatments. These aids help restore self-esteem and break the isolation often felt during the illness.
The next edition is already announced: Sunday, October 4, 2026. The organizers hope to find the momentum that propelled the previous ones. The event is now an anticipated moment of the month of October in Villefranche-sur-Mer.
