The Festival of Nature is a national event, now only in its second year. Already, last year, the Mercantour National Park played a major role by offering 22 field trips (the largest offering in the PACA region), welcoming nearly 400 people. In 2008, 31 activities are scheduled across the six valleys of the Mercantour, from Roya to Ubaye, with the ambition to do even better!
The concept of the Festival of Nature is simple: utilize the knowledge of those who work in nature or are involved in its protection to enjoy a memorable day in the field. The second edition of this festival is scheduled for May 24 and 25. This national event aims to introduce or reintroduce nature, its beauty, its fragility, and its utility to our fellow citizens.
The Mercantour National Park is heavily involved, offering activities focused on our natural (wildlife, vegetation, landscapes) and cultural heritage, thus finding an opportunity to fulfill its missions (knowledge, protection, and awareness) but also seeing an opportunity to enhance the magnificent territory of the Mercantour and its stakeholders.
These activities are overseen by a park ranger and a mountain guide partner of the Park. This year, a partnership has been formed with Gites de France to also make this event an opportunity to stay one (or more) night in the area.
