In the framework of the European Energy Transition Conference, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis was awarded the European Cit’ergie label.
The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has implemented innovative policies in the field of drinking water, energy, and sanitation: development of a smart grid development strategy with the Reflexe and Nice Grid projects, the first French smart solar district demonstrator, as well as the reduction of energy consumption at the Haliotis wastewater treatment plant, studies conducted on heat recovery from wastewater, micro-hydroelectric plants on the drinking water network… These choices were praised by the label’s awarding commission.
This labeling, pronounced for four years, highlights the quality of the energy-climate policy led by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis in view of the energy transition.
Supported by ADEME, the Cit’ergie approach is the French version of the European Energy Award®, aimed at local authorities wishing to actively contribute to improving their sustainable energy policy in line with climate objectives.
A total of 12 local authorities were awarded. Nice Côte d’Azur is the only certified authority in Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
Christian Estrosi, President of the Metropolis, did not hide his satisfaction: “Energy management is essential in the functioning of our territories and their ability to develop, thus, I wish to place energy and climate issues at the heart of Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis’s priorities.”
