This Thursday, June 16, the first national meetings of the Municipal Police will take place. A day to reflect on the recognition of the profession of municipal police officer and to address the issues that are part of the daily life of a security force that is increasingly present in the heart of towns and villages. Three round tables will allow for a discussion on the crucial themes of missions, training, and the future prospects of the Municipal Police.

Chaired by Claude Guรฉant, Minister of the Interior, Overseas Territories, Local Authorities, and Immigration, these meetings will for the first time gather mayors from both the right and the left, Municipal Police officers from all over France and their representatives, as well as the institutions responsible for their training and management.

The Municipal Police has become the third public security force. Since 1999, it has had a status guaranteeing career progression and clearly defining its competencies, but there are still strong expectations regarding professional and social recognition.

The debates will focus on its role in the overall security framework. The program for the day includes three round tables on the following themes:

– The missions of the Municipal Police and the co-production of security
– Training and ensuring professionalism
– What future prospects for Municipal Police officers?

The Minister of the Interior, Overseas Territories, Local Authorities, and Immigration, Claude Guรฉant, will conclude these first meetings at the end of the day.
