This Thursday, September 8, National Literacy Day, marks the commitment to combat illiteracy by presenting the program of literary events for 2022-2023. The entire network of Nice’s libraries is involved to support this initiative.
Jean-Luc Gagliolo, Deputy Mayor for Education, Books, the fight against illiteracy, and Nice’s Identity, presents the actions implemented by the City of Nice and its library network, thanks to associative partnerships. Numerous practical workshops and free services will be offered throughout this season.
From September 8 to 15, the 9th edition of the National Days of Action against Illiteracy kicks off the events. According to the National Agency for Combating Illiteracy, no less than 16% of the population aged 18 to 65 is struggling with writing. That is why on September 8, the City of Nice signed an official agreement with the CRI (Resource Center for Illiteracy). This strengthens their position in this initiative.
The exhibition “Livres en vie” is currently being presented, with photographs by Jean-Marc Godรจs, a visual photographer, who was present during this conference. He shared with us his unique perspective on his works, the result of research on poetic embodiment and the imaginary relationships between life and the book. This exhibition will be held from September 2 to 14 at the Raoul Mille library.
