The National Front savors its success and prepares for the legislative elections.

It is indisputable that the local surprise is the clear surge of the National Front, which is now the second political force in the Alpes-Maritimes and Nice.

With 22/24% in the department and 22% in Nice, who can deny this reality?

We asked Bruno Ligonie, deputy departmental secretary and Nice leader, to comment on this electoral evening:

“Even though we can always do better, we are completely satisfied with the results. Firstly, with the national result where Marine achieved an important score following a strong electoral campaign focused on the themes of security, immigration, and the economic crisis.

Then, if the estimates are confirmed, we will be the second party at the departmental level and perhaps even in Nice. This confirms that the electorate recognizes itself in our critical analysis of the situation and in our proposals.”

Nice-Premium: “Will there be voting instructions for the second round of the presidential election?”

Bruno Ligonie: “Marine Le Pen will lead the National Front’s May 1st rally. On this occasion, she will express herself.”

Nice-Premium: “Will this result affect your strategy for the legislative elections that will follow the presidential election?”

Bruno Ligonie: “I think they will have their importance. Firstly, by making UMP voters understand that the FN is better positioned to defend some of their ideas than what was done during Nicolas Sarkozy’s five-year term. On a territorial level, I am certain that FN candidates would be better placed deputies to work in this direction.”
