The future conference center in Nice, located on the Quai Infernet, will host the United Nations Ocean Conference in June 2025 and offer various events until 2030. Designed to be environmentally responsible, it will also benefit local restaurateurs by allowing conference attendees to dine in the city.
This Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, presented the future conference center. In front of more than 300 economic stakeholders, he detailed the progress of the project and its impact on the city.
The Sea Pavilion, a provisional name for the building (a consultation is still ongoing to choose its name on the site jeparticipe.nice.fr) will be located on the Quai Infernet. It will host the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in June 2025. This new space will meet the needs of a conference center and a maritime station. It will offer an area of 10,600 mยฒ, including a 4,000 mยฒ adaptable hall and a 4,000 mยฒ esplanade. More than 2,500 seats will be available.
The building has been designed with an eco-responsible approach. Approximately 94% of the materials used are reusable, recyclable, or reemployable. Part of the rubble has been repurposed on other metropolitan construction sites.
The Port Restaurateurs Spared
During the presentation, Christian Estrosi highlighted the positive impact of the project on the local economy. He notably pointed out that the 5,000 attendees present for the United Nations conference will be able to dine in Niceโs establishments rather than within a closed zone. The port restaurateurs, initially affected by restrictions, will remain open. โI have ensured that there will be no catering services provided by a caterer inside the closed zone,โ he assured.
The buildingโs delivery is scheduled for late April. A programming calendar will be announced shortly thereafter. It will cover the period from 2025 to 2030. Exhibitions, fairs, seminars, and events will be organized there. This new gathering place will also play a central role in organizing the 2030 Winter Olympics as it will host thousands of accredited journalists for the event.
