In July 2013, the Government designated the Nice junction as one of the top national priorities. The Nice-Le Muy section indeed saves 40 minutes on the Nice-Marseille route, placing Marseille less than 2 hours from Nice. Furthermore, it helps to alleviate congestion on the coastal line across the entire living area and ultimately allows more high-speed and mainline trains to operate.

train-20.jpg A consultation meeting on the New Provence Cรดte dโ€™Azur Line took place at the Prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes. This followed the decisions made during the steering committee on September 23, validated by the Deputy Minister for Transport on October 21.

It enabled the project owner Rรฉseau Ferrรฉ de France (RFF) to present the preferential passage area and the project’s stations to the concerned local officials.

The project for two stations, one serving Sophia-Antipolis and the other located in Nice, serving the Var plain, addresses the economic development needs of the department and should be commended.

According to Eric Ciotti, president of the General Council: “It is now up to the Government to confirm the financial means that will enable the realization of Nice-Le Muy. The elected officials of the Alpes-Maritimes will pay particular attention to ensuring that the Deputy Minister for Transport makes very rapid decisions that will allow progress on this priority project.
