It’s a first for a French airport. Since Monday, December 6th, check-in has been contactless to limit the risk of spreading infections due to the rise in cases.
It’s new at the airport. This new procedure, which only applies to passengers of Air France and Air Corsica, aims to reduce contact in the face of the growing risk of contamination, the surge of the Omicron variant, and the closure of borders in numerous countries.
Indeed, in 2020, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport saw approximately 4.8 million travelers pass through its terminals.
Thanks to interactive kiosks and smartphones, the entire operation is directed by the passenger. All they need to do is provide the usual information, such as the flight, choice of airline, presence or absence of luggage, and the number of bags, before printing the boarding passes and tags.
For now, this is a test that will last for two months. Ultimately, this system could become permanent and might then be extended to all flights, for airlines that choose to adopt it, and thus for all travelers.
