The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis committed to the eco-gestures campaign.

Latest News

Committed to a policy in favor of sustainable development and environmental preservation, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has been supporting the “Ecogestes Méditerranée” campaign since 2011.

This initiative works to protect the sea and coastlines through awareness actions aimed at sea users. It mobilizes numerous environmental education structures and site managers along the coasts to directly raise awareness among recreational boaters at sea: from Cap d’Ail in the Alpes-Maritimes to Martigues in the Bouches-du-Rhône.

The goal is to promote practical and ecological actions to preserve the Mediterranean. Throughout the summer, ambassadors organize sea outings to exchange with boaters about their practices and the actions to adopt for more “sustainable” boating.

The topics covered by the Ecogestes campaigns include anchoring, management of grey and black water, handling macro-waste, fishing, spearfishing, boat maintenance, and hydrocarbons, among others.

This year, on the coastline of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the focus is on boaters anchoring in the Natura 2000 area of Cap Ferrat, which includes Beaulieu, Eze, and Cap d’Ail.

The Ecogestes ambassadors, after Cap d’Ail, Beaulieu, and Villefranche, will intervene:

– Monday, August 4: at Cap d’Ail in partnership with the CDMM,
– Tuesday, August 12: at Beaulieu-sur-Mer in partnership with SOS Grand Bleu,
– And Thursday, August 14, 2014: at Villefranche-sur-Mer in partnership with the CDMM.
