This Thursday, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, with its 550,000 inhabitants and 10 million visitors per year, will officially become the first local authority in the Mediterranean region to partner with WWF France for a three-year collaboration aimed at ending plastic waste in the Mediterranean by 2025.

The commitment charter, to be signed by Christian Estrosi and Pierre Cannet, Director of WWF France Programs, includes an action plan organized around three priorities:

  1. Reduce the consumption of plastic products in the area, to limit the quantity of plastic waste and the associated risk of pollution,

  2. Promote the reuse and alternatives to disposables and single-use plastics,

  3. Recycle plastic waste that could not be avoided to limit the ecological footprint of end-of-life products and future products.
