The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has presented its budget orientation for the year 2024.
The Executive Committee and the Council of Mayors met to discuss the 2024 budget orientation of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis. Since 2020, the health crisis, the rise in inflation, and the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East have complicated the budget orientation.
A budget orientation in favor of the ecological transition of Nice Côte d’Azur. Notably for the implementation of the decarbonization of the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. This project will receive 4.6 million euros from the Banque des Territoires and 4.1 million euros in European grants. It is part of the objective of the Green Deal for Europe.
These budget directions are unanimously approved by the Executive Committee and the Council of Mayors. Despite an inflationary international context, the Metropolis chooses to maintain an investment level of 50 million euros.
The different themes addressed during this assembly
During this assembly, the approved budget orientations are:
- A 2023 budget landing allowing for significant gross savings in a challenging context for local authorities and their groups.
- Maintaining a very high level of public service while controlling operational expenses.
- Maintaining the metropolitan solidarity grant, which is five times the amount stipulated by law.
- A sustained investment policy throughout the territory, with a level of investment across all budgets exceeding 470 million euros.
- Maintaining tax rates (Property Tax and Household Waste Collection Tax).
- A situation that does not require contracting new loans for the 2024 fiscal year and a debt reduction that will follow in the upcoming fiscal years.
These budget orientations will be presented at the next Metropolitan Council, which will be held on February 20, 2024.
