Two young high school students, Diego Moreira and Maรซl Antoons (Vocational Baccalaureate from Lycรฉe Pasteur) and the 24 students of the CM2 B class from Nikaรฏa school were winners of two national competitions organized by ONACVG (National Office for Veterans and War Victims), and they received congratulations yesterday from the mayor of Nice, Philippe Pradal.

Since 2014, ONACVG has organized this national comic strip competition for middle and high school students, either in class or as independent candidates, with the support of the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education, and Research.

The theme for the 2015-2016 year was “Memories of War”.

High school students Diego Moreira and Maรซl Antoons participated as independent candidates in the comic strip competition “Bulles de mรฉmoire” and chose to depict the conflict in the former Yugoslavia with the siege of Sarajevo, a tragic story drawn with great talent, a lot of sensitivity, and maturity.

They won the 1st regional prize in the independent candidate category and the 1st national prize in the same category.

The 24 students of the CM2 B class from Nikaรฏa school participated in the “The Little Artists of Memory” competition.

Faced with the disappearance of the Poilus, ONACVG (National Office for Veterans and War Victims) invited primary school children (CM1 and CM2) to take ownership of their history and transmit it by becoming “Little Artists of Memory”.

The national jury recognized their highly qualified work, crowned with the 1st prize!
