Facing the forecourt of Nice’s town hall this Saturday afternoon, Nice communists held an emergency rally against antisemitism. About fifty people gathered to stand up to antisemitism. An initiative triggered by new revelations targeting Jordan Bardella.
The meeting was set on the forecourt of the town hall. On the initiative of the French Communist Party (PCF), about fifty activists gathered to sound an alarm. At the origin of this mobilization, revelations published by Mediapart concerning writings attributed to Jordan Bardella. For the organizers, the time is no longer for waiting but for action.
Although the crowd gathered in front of the town hall remained modest, Gilles Verrier stands behind this first step. « This is a beginning of reaction. The cordon sanitaire that was starting to crumble around the RN must be rebuilt, it is a wall that must be erected against these ideas ».

« Antisemitism has no place in the Republic »
Julien Picot, departmental secretary of the PCF in the Alpes-Maritimes, hammered home, « the Republic cannot afford to falter today. Antisemitism has no place in the Republic, it is a crime, just like racism. » Demanding the resignation of the president of the National Rally, the communist leader also calls for a clear stance from Nice’s mayor, Eric Ciotti, and local political leaders.
An analysis shared by Gilles Verrier, secretary of the Nice section of the PCF, who draws a grim historical parallel. « We now have proof of what Jordan Bardella and the RN behind him think. Today, we have the proof for all those who doubted it that the National Rally remains an antisemitic party. All those who believed in de-demonization can no longer believe in it. »

Nice’s right-wing under fire from critics
Beyond the national target, the organizers reserved their harshest arrows for the local right and deputy Éric Ciotti. The movement denounces the political alliances formed between the UDR and the RN, accusing the parliamentarian of guilty silence. « Éric Ciotti must condemn these remarks and clearly distance himself from the National Rally », says Julien Picot.
Another major point raised during the rally was the absence of figures from the so-called local republican right who were invited to this gathering. Senator Dominique Estrosi-Sassone, first deputy Anthony Borré and former mayor Philippe Pradal were explicitly singled out by Julien Picot for having « been noticeably absent […] The fight against the far right is not done depending on electoral deadlines, it is done all the time », emphasized the municipal councilor.
The PCF announces that further mobilizations will follow in the Alpes-Maritimes, particularly Tuesday at 2 p.m., they will support striking high school students. The organizers reiterated their call to all republican and community forces in Nice to build a broader common front in the coming weeks.
