Starting in March, postal workers in Nice will be able to drive electric cars. This Monday, twenty vehicles were delivered to the mail carriers. Nice will be the first city in France to be equipped with them. Yesterday, the postal workers acknowledged receipt of the cars.
“Starting next month, all of Old Nice will be served by eco-friendly cars,” proudly declared Yves Kerboriou, director of the Cรดte d’Azur mail service. Nice has acknowledged receipt of twenty electric vehicles intended for postal workers. “This is a premiere today. These are the first twenty cars being presented!” states Yves Kerboriou. All these new vehicles comply with new standards and are adapted for city-center driving. “Using these cars for our rounds will allow us to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% by 2015,” Mr. Kerboriou is pleased to announce.
Specific equipment for La Poste
“La Poste in Nice is the only one to deploy such a fleet!” confides the Cรดte d’Azur mail service director. But the cars aren’t the only equipment provided for the Post Office, “we have a whole range of electric transportation unique to our company. The cart, bikes, quadeos… Everything needed to respect the environment,” he adds.
Moreover, Nice is the first urban community to implement electric vehicles in a car-sharing scheme. The car-sharing system will be in place starting in March.
