The Nice Rainbow List announces its program.

This year, we can expect to see a list led by a MoDem official vying for the mayorship of Nice. To achieve this, the support of other center parties was necessary. Hervé Caël (MoDem), head of the list, shows humility, without hiding his hope: “A municipality cannot do everything, succeed at everything. Candidates from major parties constantly make promises; they won’t be able to keep all of them. At Nice Arc-en-ciel, we believe that the city council must work with the associative sector. And with diverse, independent associations.”

He regrets certain aspects of Nice’s city management by Jacques Peyrat. “We demand that the neighborhood town halls in Nice have real decision-making power. Currently, their resources are too limited. We also want the opposition to the mayor to be represented on the CANCA council in the future.” Christian Estrosi is not spared either: the candidates from the Nice Arc-en-ciel list advocate against the accumulation of mandates and the professionalization of elected officials. This directly targets the minister of overseas territories, president of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, and candidate for mayor of Nice.

The center also has projects and has found its cause: the proximity of elected officials to their voters and transparency. “We will consult the citizens before each city council meeting, on the forum of our website. Moreover, we will not practice voting discipline among our elected officials: each will vote on the deliberations according to their conscience,” explains Elodie Jomat (PRG), who is among the four running mates alongside Hervé Caël. Another priority: transportation. Hervé Caël wants the project to extend tram line 1 to Ariane to be initiated as quickly as possible. Similarly for line 2, which he sees extending “from the port to the administrative center,” passing by the edge of the Moulins district.

Nice Arc-en-ciel: 8 to 10% of the votes according to polls

Other projects stated by the running mates of Nice Arc-en-ciel have already been heard elsewhere. Thus, the centrists wish to eliminate the incineration plant in Ariane, like the Greens allied with the PS. “It can’t be done in six months, but with real political will, the project could be completed in two to three years,” specifies Jean-Christophe Picard (PRG). Michel François (MEI), adds: “This is a real public health issue. We must also reduce the amount of waste at the source.” In terms of security as well, the Nice Arc-en-ciel program aligns with that of the PS: increasing the staff and means of the municipal police. The centrists add a cleanliness component: “The environmental brigade, which currently has 12 agents, must see its staff tripled,” says Martine Dubus (MoDem).

Nice Arc-en-ciel supports the project to create a large stadium in the Var plain. One month before the first round, Hervé Caël is optimistic for his list. The threshold of 5% of the votes, which allows for the reimbursement of campaign expenses, should be easily crossed. The candidate looks further: “With 5 to 10% of the votes, we will be able to sit on the City Council. And if we exceed 10% in the first round, we will be allowed to continue in the second round.”
