The Nice Socialist Party wants an extension of Tram Line 2 to CADAM.

“Christian Estrosi pays for advertising in Nice Matin to tell the public: ‘We are listening to you,’ but three months ago, he commissioned studies for the route of line 2. Then, towards us, he says he is open, that he listens to the opposition and we learn everything through the press,” Michèle Matringe exclaims. She contrasts with the calm tone of her two companions, Paul Cuturello and Patrick Allemand. More pedagogically, the socialist azure leader explains: “We are not opposed to a passage of the tram on the Promenade. What we do not want is a route to the west. It does not serve Les Moulins, nor the Cadam, nor the Nikaïa, nor the large stadium. We want to make a counter-proposal: we start from Place Masséna, then the Promenade des Anglais, but we serve the entire west to reach the Administrative Center by either passing through Route de Grenoble or Boulevard Montel. We must think of the people of Nice who work, the schoolchildren going to the Sports Park, and all those who will attend concerts at the Nikaïa.”

The socialist group would like to take advantage of the savings made by cutting the eastern section (Place Masséna-Port of Nice) to extend it to the west. Mathematics replace pedagogy. “It costs 33 million Euros per kilometer of tram. We save 66 million in the east. Might as well use them in the west. The Moulins neighborhood still has 12,000 inhabitants,” says Paul Cuturello in the role of math teacher.

The last issue raised by the socialist group and Patrick Allemand: “The equipment for line 1 and line 2 are incompatible since they will not have the same power source. This will prevent trains from starting from Rouret and diverting at Masséna towards line 2…”

The debate on line 2 is just beginning.
