the Nice University Hospital honors its thousandth kidney transplant

Latest News

This transplantation was performed by Dr. Hervé Quintens (Urology Department of Prof. Jean Amiel) with the healthcare team of the Medical-Surgical Transplantation Unit led by Dr. Elisabeth Cassuto-Viguier (Nephrology Department of Prof. Vincent Esnault) and in collaboration with Dr. Bruno Malzac (Anesthesiology-Resuscitation Department of Prof. Marc Raucoules-Aimé), the Transplant Coordination (Dr. Patrick Jambou), and the Immunology Department (Prof. Alain Bernard).

Starting nearly 30 years ago, the pace of kidney transplants has significantly accelerated in recent years, reaching a total of 90 transplants in 2006 thanks to the mobilization of all actors within our institution, which has made transplantation one of its priorities.

One month before the National Organ Donation Day on June 22, and on the occasion of this “historic” transplantation, the Urology-Nephrology Unit will celebrate this event on May 21 in the presence of the patient who received the first transplant and the one who received the 1000th transplant.
