Created by a former karate champion, the free program the Extreme Drought Challenge of 45 days gathers 1,700 participants across France. Nutrition, discipline, collective support: a cocktail that aims to change lives.

In the heat of the South, where bodies are more revealed than elsewhere, Christophe Bonnefont knows the pressure of being watched. This native of Nice, former French karate champion, has transformed his sports and nutritional expertise into an amazingly effective national challenge: the Extreme Drought Challenge. For this third edition, 1,700 participants have joined the adventure for free via a Facebook group. For 45 days, Christophe guides volunteers step by step towards a physical and mental transformation. Calibrated nutrition, regular live sessions, a galvanizing group spirit… the concept appeals to both seasoned athletes and beginners. Meet the man who wants to make France sweat, but always with kindness (and one chocolate bar a day).

This is the 3rd edition of the Extreme Drought Challenge. Where did the idea come from?

“I personally experienced these periods in my karate career, where we had to be in peak shape for competition. It’s intense, you go through all emotional states. So I wanted to structure a method, open it to as many people as possible, and make it accessible. All of it for free, through a Facebook group.

How is the challenge structured concretely?

Everything is planned over 45 days: the workouts, but especially nutrition, which is one of my areas of expertise. Each day has its typical menu. For example, in the morning it’s cottage cheese, raspberries, and a peanut butter powder that I developed myself. Lunch: raw vegetables and white meat. Dinner: lentil pasta and ratatouille. And yes… one chocolate bar per day! This shows the program’s intensity but also its balance: there needs to be a calorie margin.

One whole bar? That surprises quite a few challengers!

Yes, but it’s not a trap. It’s a way to avoid frustration. People are often too strict, which makes them crack. Here, I show that you can achieve serious results without depriving yourself of everything.

Who is this program for?

For everyone. We have novices, sports enthusiasts, people of all ages. What’s great is that the program adapts. It’s not a “military” method. Everyone goes at their own pace. And surprise: two-thirds of the participants are women. It’s incredibly encouraging.

The Facebook group seems to play a central role…

It’s the key. The group effect, the excitement, it boosts everyone. I do live sessions, I give advice, I answer questions. You never feel alone. I believe this explains the success rate: 95% of participants reach their goals.

And the results?

Honestly, some testimonials touch me deeply. I have people who have lost 10, 15, sometimes up to 18 kg. It’s not just about weight: it’s about rediscovering confidence, new energy. It changes lives. And for me, it puts a huge smile on my face. That’s why I keep going.”
