For the first time since March, the number of unemployed individuals in categories A, B, and C has slightly decreased but remains at a high level, exceeding 6 million.
The number of unemployed individuals decreased again (−4.1%) in July, with 174,300 fewer people registered in category A. This decrease is due, as in May and June, to job seekers returning to reduced activity (categories B and C), according to figures from Pôle emploi published on Wednesday, August 26.
Following decreases of −204,700 in June and −149,900 in May, this marks the third consecutive month of significant decline. However, the number of category A unemployed individuals remains at a high level (4.047 million), after the exceptional increases due to the lockdown (+7% in March, +22% in April), which amounts to 560,000 more unemployed individuals than at the end of February.
