Health holds a central place in the concerns of the French, regularly mentioned among the national priorities and even elevated to the rank of top priority in recent years. It requires constant attention.

Christian Estrosi traveled last week to the capital to meet the Minister of Health and Prevention. “For years, I have been alerting various health ministers about the need to increase the number of internship positions allocated to the medical faculty, to ensure a quality healthcare offer in the Alpes-Maritimes area,” explains Christian Estrosi. Indeed, Nice, as the fifth largest city in France and ranked 26th in terms of hosting interns, needed a significant response regarding the training of medical interns.

The Pasteur 2 Phase Two project will reach completion after 16 years of work in the second half of 2025. This efficient tool will allow Niรงois and visitors to be welcomed under better conditions.

The Mayor of Nice presented the minister with an ambitious project to consolidate healthcare facilities in the Plaine du Var, called the “Citรฉ des Santรฉ.” This project plans to merge the activities of the Archet 1 & 2 and Cimiez sites, as well as to examine the potential transfer of oncology and pediatrics services. Currently in the project management assistance phase by the Regional Health Agency, it aims to improve patient reception conditions in a performance-driven and accessible health center.

Similarly, the Mayor of Nice also raised awareness with the minister about the urgency of increasing the number of interns trained in Nice. Although Nice is the fifth-largest city in France, it is the 26th city in the number of interns trained. Lastly, the RespirERA University Hospital Institute project was discussed alongside the creation of a pharmacy department. Its creation will strengthen the health research and innovation dynamic and offer young people professional training.

Christian Estrosi expressed his satisfaction about the positive reception of our projects by the ministry. “As mayor, I will not back down when it comes to providing decent working conditions and quality care for the residents of Nice and the region,” he emphasizes.
