The Oceanographic Institute, Albert I, Prince of Monaco Foundation awards the Grand Medal Albert I each year to a highly qualified and globally renowned scientist in the field of oceanography.
Yesterday, during a ceremony attended by Prince Albert II, the awards were presented.
Catherine CHABAUD, the first woman to complete a solo, non-stop, round-the-world sailing race, was the guest of honor for the evening. This passionate navigator, deeply committed to ocean protection, highlighted the careers of two medalists:
– Gilles BOEUF, President of the National Museum of Natural History,
– Andrew BAKUN, Professor of Marine Biology at the University of Miami
