opera_plage.jpg The atmosphere was celebratory and emotional for the 125th anniversary of the Opéra Plage pavilion. A chic and relaxed atmosphere, a lavish buffet, DJ, and saxophonist to get the guests swinging… The Maiffret family pulled out all the stops to ensure that this unique moment was forever etched in memory.

On this occasion, the deputy mayor of the city of Nice, Christian Estrosi, emphasized how much Opéra Plage is a part of the Azure landscape. He also wished “a long life to Michel Maiffret, his wife, their descendants, and their establishment.” He even presented the owner with the city medal to symbolize Nice’s special attachment to the pavilion.

Eric Ciotti, the deputy president of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, awarded Michel Maiffret the department’s medal, noting that the oldest beach in Nice is “a place of friendship and celebration.”

Four generations have succeeded each other at the helm of the beach, making it today a globally known and recognized place. The Maiffret family achieved the feat of keeping the pavilion in the family since 1888, and it’s not about to change…

Michel, who has been leading Opéra Plage since 1967, plans to pass the torch to his daughter Véronique and son Nicolas, ensuring that the beach remains in the family for many more years.
