On Sunday, September 7, at 3 p.m., the grand tournament, awaited each year by everyone, will take place. To add further prestige, it will be held at the large Place Garibaldi starting at 2:30 p.m., with the participation of the best teams. What is pilou?

A “game that doesn’t cost a cent” as the Nux Vomica song says. A pierced coin, preferably the old 10-centime coins, and a piece of paper make up a shuttlecock. It is played in teams of two on a cross-shaped court drawn with chalk. The goal of the activity is to “make the shuttlecock fly” using only feet, knees, and chest as in football, to drop it into the opponent’s side in meter-wide circles. What is the Nissa Pilo association?

It is a group of friends, who are lovers of Nice and its culture, wishing to share their passions, knowledge, and lifestyle. The association aims to promote the practice of pilou to creatively support the preservation and influence of Niçoise culture in a spirit of openness to the world. Created under the patronage of André Giordan and Ninou Bernardi, former world champions, it brings together personalities from very diverse backgrounds like Denis Olivier, José Maria, Alain Gallo, Christian Delobette, René Bodenès, and others.
