The prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, Bernard Gonzalez, extended his 2020 wishes to the security actors at the Palais des Rois Sardes. During the event, he took the opportunity to highlight the courage, commitment, and combativeness of these actors.
Many were present. Elected officials, municipal and national police officers, firefighters, mayors, customs officers, gendarmes, and volunteers. This assembly provided the prefect of Alpes-Maritimes the occasion to convey his wishes to these security actors.
“It is a joy and an honor to welcome you here,” Bernard Gonzalez began by saying, before reminding them of the importance of his men, “You are the guarantors and the strength of the republic.”
More specifically, the prefect thanked the police officers “capable of dismantling criminal networks as well as drug trafficking,” and the firefighters “who were on the front line all year, especially during the meteorological episodes at the end of 2019.”
Before concluding by explaining that “these forces were at the heart of French life and that they guaranteed on a daily basis the foremost of freedoms: security.”
A ceremony of wishes that ended with a tribute: 2 police officers and 2 gendarmes received the Medal of Honor for courage and dedication for their actions in recent months.
