The Saint Jean d’Angély district, a future between modernity and well-being

Latest News

While the urban project is still underway in the Saint Jean d’Angély area, the neighborhood is changing its face, particularly with the upcoming arrival of a cinema and shops.

At the Nice Saint Jean d’Angély construction site, near the new “LIDL,” everyone without exception is wearing a safety mask. On-site, it is still difficult to recognize what the works will look like when completed. The agenda includes a visit to the ongoing construction site with Christian Estrosi, the mayor of the city of Nice, along with Gilles Giribaldi, director of the ADIM company responsible for the smooth progress of the works.

Concrete staircases, dust, and vigilant employees, the planned cinema is still far from completion, but progress is prolific. While the cinema is expected to open in October 2021, a digital setup is being prepared. The cinema is one of the many new additions to the Saint Jean d’Angély district, with a total of 4 screens within the facility, including Screen 1, which will have 355 seats. “I want to emphasize the importance of culture in the neighborhoods. The new cinema will be able to receive support from the surrounding shops,” stated the mayor of Nice, delighted with the progress of the works. With the nearest cinema located on Jean Médecin Avenue, residents of the neighborhood hope, if the health crisis subsides, to enter this new modern cinema as soon as possible. The Saint Jean d’Angély neighborhood construction site doesn’t stop there, with 60 daily employees working on constructing housing and shops.

The neighborhood will benefit from numerous assets

Some time ago, residents saw the emergence of a new shopping center named “LIDL” as well as a pharmacy. This is just the beginning of the change. On the ground floor of the cinema, a range of shops is about to emerge. The neighborhood is set to transform into a truly dynamic area. Moreover, the population is expected to significantly increase with the current work on creating 136 homes, all habitable by next June. Local shops, a dynamic area, the city’s goal is to ensure the well-being of its population.

As repeatedly indicated by Christian Estrosi, the neighborhood is expanding. In addition to new housing and shops, the Saint Jean d’Angély area can boast a significant university hub, a quality sports structure (Vauban), as well as important transportation infrastructure with the tram and Riquiez station. “Residents, students, professionals, and walkers will find in the East a pleasant living environment oriented towards the future, in the heart of a historic neighborhood,” emphasizes Christian Estrosi to Anne Ramos-Mazzuco, deputy in charge of works.
