The Prefecture does not authorize “The March… for Peace.”

Latest News

For once in agreement, Christian Estrosi and Eric Ciotti had asked Prefect Gonzales to ban the pro-Palestine demonstration organized for this Saturday between Place Garibaldi and Place Masséna. In this request, they were in line with the Minister of the Interior, Gérard Darmanin.

The reason? The risk (or one might say the near certainty) of disturbances since these demonstrations are conducive to acts of violence by “anti-democracy” activists. Just like in Paris, where the “march for peace” (oh, the irony!) was banned.

Beyond the motivation expressed in bureaucratic language, one wonders why these activists necessarily have to disrupt city life for several hours to express their support for a cause. Because today it’s the dramatic situation in Israel that is in the spotlight, but tomorrow there will be another reason, and the day after tomorrow yet another.

The fact is that there is a minority that needs to demonstrate to exist. So why not gather these activists in a designated area where they can express themselves freely without disturbing others?

Come on, a little effort and everyone will be happy.
