While awaiting the completion of studies concerning the Nice-Marseille line and the construction of the high-speed line between Ventimiglia and Genoa and the high-speed line between Genoa and Milan, which should bring Nice between 2 and 2.5 hours from the Lombardy capital (today this journey takes more than 5 hours), and especially a change of train and the purchase of a new ticket at the Ventimiglia station, both on the way there and back. The good news is that Nice and Milan now have a direct train.
Admit that at the dawn of 2015, there is reason to be dismayed!
Finally, a piece of good news with this new direct route between Nice and other coastal cities, to reach Milan via Genoa.
If not faster, at least it will be simpler.
In the end, one must become philosophical and think that a little something is always better than nothing!
Thus, Thello eliminates borders and on December 14 opens a new international railway line between Marseille, Nice, Monaco, Genoa, and Milan.
Today, connecting the Côte d’Azur or Provence by rail to Liguria or Lombardy, regions with strong historical, cultural, and economic ties, proves to be more complex than the short distances would suggest.
The train change at Ventimiglia is inevitable, and the purchase of a new ticket at this same station is often necessary.
The line will serve the stations of Marseille Saint Charles, Toulon, Les Arcs, Saint Raphael, Cannes, Antibes, Nice Ville, Monaco, and Menton.
Then it will continue its route in Italy through the stations of Ventimiglia, San Remo, Imperia PM, Diano Marina, Alassio, Albenga, Finale Ligure, Savona, Genoa Piazza Principe, Voghera, Pavia, and Milan Centrale.
