The Challenge Pierre et Marc Stellardo will kick off on Friday, May 30 in Cannes. This precision shooting competition, tied to the Europรฉtanque, launches a series of five qualifying rounds in the Alpes-Maritimes.
Les Allรฉes de Forville in Cannes will host the first stage of the Challenge Pierre et Marc Stellardo eliminations tomorrow, Friday, May 30, starting at 2 PM. Organized by the Alpes-Maritimes Department in partnership with the Departmental Committee of Pรฉtanque and Provenรงal Game, this competition is reserved for licensed players from Committee 06 and Monaco.
The objective is clear: to qualify for the departmental final, scheduled for October 3 in the gardens of the Department. At the end of this final, seven players will have the opportunity to join the main draw of the Europรฉtanque, planned for October 17 in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
For this 2025 edition, the organizers have revised the format. A general ranking will be established after five stages: Cannes, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Monaco, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, and Nice. The top 32 scores will advance to the final. The top-ranked player will automatically qualify for the round of sixteen of the Europรฉtanque.
Specific spots are allocated for female, veteran, and promotion categories. This allows for better representation of the diverse profiles of players from the area.
Registrations are possible online (โฌ6) until the day before each stage or on-site on the same day (โฌ10), limited to 50 participants. Competitors must be adults, licensed in 06 or Monaco, and comply with the regulatory attire.
In addition to qualification, rewards are planned. A departmental or promotional record can earn โฌ100. Qualifying for Europรฉtanque is rewarded with โฌ200.
For Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, president of the Department, this competition demonstrates the institutions’ commitment to the local development of pรฉtanque: “Thanks to the qualifying stages, the department’s licensed players have the opportunity to compete against the biggest specialists in precision shooting, in a spirit of openness and excellence.”
