The Radio Ficanas in Nice

Latest News

A few weeks ago, we introduced you on Nice Première to Le Ficanas and its initiator Christian Gallo who has since become one of our most faithful partners. Not content with making a mark on the Azurean web, it is now on the local airwaves that Christian will spread his good word on France Bleu Azur.

So Christian, tell us a bit about this transition from the web to radio…

Nice Première: How so? Le Ficanas on the radio?

Christian Gallo: No, Franck, it’s not Le Ficanas that’s going to the radio, but rather myself, who is in fact just a holographic appearance of Le Ficanas…

N.P.: So, the web is not enough for you anymore?

C.G.: If it’s about lightly touching upon the cultural news of the department, it’s perfect. But radio is different. I will be reminiscing about the past, sometimes the very recent past. Events that make the small stories, which, when compiled, create the big ones. It will involve amusing recollections of extraordinary people who were born or lived on the Coast, also monuments, street names, shows that make up a whole. Actually, this has often made the people of Nice and the Azureans laugh.

N.P.: You’re whetting my appetite. Tell us more!

C.G.: Why was the statue of Apollo at Place Masséna nicknamed ‘The Virgin’? Why do people honk for weddings? Why is the cannon fired at exactly noon? Why did the scholar Cavendish, a Nicois, appear to be an eccentric? Why is Mercedes considered a Nicois automobile brand? Why is the Thiers post office thought to be the one in Lille? Why were the domes of the Carlton designed after the breasts of La Belle Otero? Why is there a finger missing from the statue of Carlou-Felis? Why are the people from Nice called ‘caga blea’?

N.P.: And there are going to be a lot of these?

C.G.: 220! Oh! I’m not nearly done. So, I take this opportunity to make a call. If you know a good one, a real, funny, or even dramatic one, don’t hesitate to contact me. I need it: gallo@ficanas.com

N.P.: And where can we hear this?

C.G.: On France Bleu Azur, on 103.8, every day at 10:45 am and 5:45 pm, Monday to Friday starting from Monday, August 28. But don’t miss it, because it only lasts two or three minutes.

N.P.: Clearly Le Ficanas is everywhere. It’s becoming dangerous…

C.G.: Exactly like Nice-Première, that’s saying something!
