In an unstable economic context, the Olympic sports association movement of the Côte d’Azur made it a point to meet last Monday at the Mediterranean University Center in Nice.
In front of an auditorium of nearly 150 people, the Regional Olympic and Sports Committee of the Côte d’Azur held its General Assembly.
The first Assembly of Ivan Coste Manière, as President of the structure, was one of the most moving, with a reflection on a year 2015 marked by terrible losses for French sport: Camille Muffat, Alexis Vastine, Françoise Arthaud, and Jules Bianchi. A difficult but essential reflection as the Olympic family does not forget them.
In partnership with the Rectorate of the Academy of Nice, the Olympic Committee organized a drawing competition on the “Common Values between Secularism and Olympism.” The three winning schools, the Green Island Elementary School of Valbonne, the Mixed Mills Elementary School of Nice, and Sainte Pétronille Elementary School of Saint-Laurent du Var, all received new sports equipment.
The CROS CA also organized an auction of artworks donated by three renowned artists: Kristian, Jean-Jacques Beltramo, and Chris Oven. The proceeds collected were donated to three associations: Rêves 06, Lenval Foundation, and WorldRiderZ. A check for 100€ was also given to the Committee of Alpes-Maritimes of the League Against Cancer, a partner of the CROS Côte d’Azur.
In closing the evening, speeches by Messrs. Richard Miron, Deputy Mayor of the City of Marseille in Charge of Sport, and Jacques Cartiaux, Regional Director of Youth, Sports, and Social Cohesion, both called for collective and collaborative work with the Leagues and Committees to build a serene future for the association and sports movement of the Côte d’Azur.
