The former president of the Republic will be in Nice today, in his role as President of the UMP, to launch Christian Estrosi’s electoral campaign for the end-of-year regional elections.
The mayor of Nice and the president of the Nice Cรดte d’Azur Metropolis deserved this, at least, for the courage and generosity of his gesture: Can one easily imagine the consequences in the event of a defeat? In such a case, how many Brutuses would be ready to disrupt his increasingly lordly power?
But, for the sake of balance, a visit to the General Council is also in order to listen to the “Fillonist” (for how much longer?) Eric Ciotti present his model for fighting RSA fraud, of which he is quite proud and which, as has been repeatedly stated, has allowed for a 20 million reduction in costs since its implementation.
In fact, it’s a bit like the rediscovery of cold water; it’s simply about carefully applying control procedures. Naturally, the media and political impact is not the same!
Next, there will be a lunch with the senior elected officials of the department: deputies and senators accompanied by the mayor of Grasse, Jรฉrome Viaud, and the mayor of Cannes, David Lisnard.
The program then includes a visit to the Smart City Center, one of the supposed jewels of Christian Estrosi, where meetings with local start-ups are planned.
The late afternoon will be devoted to a working meeting with UMP officials from the PACA region, followed by a rally at the Nikkaรฏa Palace starting at 6 pm, to conclude a busy day where the decision taken last week to appoint Christian Estrosi as the head of the UMP list for the regional elections will inevitably be legitimized.
And then, in both cases (election or not), a potential candidate for the 2016 UMP primary is leaving the cast: Isn’t that reason enough to publicly thank him?
