The city of Nice, in collaboration with ADIM, completed the entire project yesterday. With the final touches done, only a few small adjustments remain. A construction project that began in 2017 and finished after three and a half years of work. Sixty people contributed to its construction, amounting to approximately 6,800 hours of labor.

“It’s a strong signal of renewal in this eastern part of the city.” Those were the words used by ADIM Côte d’Azur director Gilles Giribaldi to describe this monumental project. To summarize briefly, the entire construction covers approximately 23,000 m², divided into three sections.

The first section is set to host the largest Mégarama cinema in the department, located in Nice. It will feature ten auditoriums, with two dedicated to art and experimental films. “The cinema is expected to open on October 6 with the screening of the latest James Bond movie,” noted Gilles Giribaldi.

The second section houses 67 social housing units. These were commissioned by Côte d’azur Habitat and are all located in section 1. To round out the offerings, 136 residential units were built, including 37 affordable housing units. This is aimed at “ensuring diversity in this student neighborhood.”

The third section accommodates a LIDL supermarket with a total area of 1,800 m². To date, “it is the largest LIDL in Nice. It is accompanied by a pharmacy, with future plans for other shops and restaurants.”

Finally, the goal is to make this area a “hub of centrality.” In clear terms, all the shops, activities, and living spaces are intended to integrate better. To support this, “a parking lot with 680 parking spaces, 320 of which are in a private lot,” has been designed to better orchestrate the space. It is situated around the University and has optimal public transit access, like the tramway, the SNCF train station, and others.
