After the latest announcements from the Prime Minister on December 27, many concert halls and stadiums have had their scheduling disrupted.
Jean Castex announced on Monday, December 27, that large gatherings will be limited to a maximum capacity of 2000 people indoors and 5000 people outdoors, for a duration of three weeks. It is also planned that standing concerts will be prohibited.
In the region, several shows have been canceled. At the Palais Nikaรฏa, the Eddy de Pretto concert initially scheduled for January 28 has been canceled. The Palais Nikaรฏa invites all those who had purchased a ticket to get a refund from the point of sale where they bought it.
In Cannes, the Irish Celtic shows scheduled for December 31 and January 1 at the Palais des Festivals have also been postponed to an unknown date. This time the reason is that the artists, coming from the United Kingdom, cannot travel to France without a compelling reasonโartistic performance is not considered one.
Regarding matches at the Allianz Riviera, they will not be canceled. The only change: only 5000 supporters will be able to attend the match in the stands, while the stadium can accommodate 35,000. So there’s no need to panic, the Nice-Nantes match to be played at home on January 14 will not be canceled.
Concerts canceled, political rallies maintained
While large gatherings, concerts, shows, etc., are affected by these measures, political rallies are maintained without restrictions. In fact, the constitution protects political activities, so the state cannot apply the same restrictions. Therefore, there is no capacity limit for political meetings.
Several French artists have reacted humorously on social media, ironically stating that they will now be “holding meetings.”

The above tweet from Eddy de Pretto reflects the satire shared by the artists.
