The singer from Nice, Santa, will be the sponsor of the Tรฉlรฉthon 2025 on December 5th and 6th. She is the first female sponsor since Zazie, who sponsored the 31st edition in 2017.
This Tuesday morning, the media outlet Ici revealed the identity of the next sponsor of the Tรฉlรฉthon, the 39th edition this year. It is singer Santa, known for songs like “Popcorn Salรฉ” and “Recommence-moi,” the latter becoming the anthem for Star Academy 2024. This information has been confirmed by the main parties involved. She follows singers Mika and Vianney, sponsors of the two previous editions.
She has expressed a clear ambition for this edition, as reported by Ici. Santa wants to “break donation records, from 3637.” Last year, more than 96 million were raised. On the Tรฉlรฉthon website, she left a message full of ambition. “What could be more beautiful than healing a child? The Tรฉlรฉthon is a real challenge to life, turning predictions around, transforming the incurable into progress, even healing.”
A battle filled with hope that she wants to lead throughout this weekend in the fight against illness. “Illness leaves a small space โ sometimes tiny โ for laughter, tenderness, life. So, we will live a little more intensely for 30 hours on the upcoming December 5th and 6th, filled with momentum, surprises, with the fragile but persistent certainty that life must be celebrated!”
A meteoric rise since 2022
Santa, whose real name is Samantha Cotta, was born in Nice in 1993. She is the daughter of Diane Eckert, a singer in a 100% female group from Nice. She began her music career with her band Hyphen Hyphen. She launched her solo career in 2022, with the hit “Popcorn Salรฉ.” The enthusiasm for this artist with a distinctive style sets her apart from others.
The year 2024 brought Santa to the top. Her album “Recommence-moi” concluded the top 20 best-selling albums of the year, according to SNEP. A few weeks later, she performed the song “Vivre pour le meilleur” by Johnny Hallyday during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games. She became a coach on the show The Voice Kids, since the start of the new season, currently airing on TF1.
Santa, a highly committed artist
Beyond music, the artist from Nice is known for being a very committed artist. She was the sponsor for the ten years of Lou Queernaval, the only LGBTQIA+ carnival in France. She also appeared on the jury of the show Drag Race France, on France Tรฉlรฉvisions.
She described herself as “Queer” to journalists from Le Parisien. A term that means “strange,” used as a homophobic slur. Nowadays, this term is used to describe people who prefer not to (or do not want to) define themselves by traditional normative categories of gender and sexual orientations.
This time, the commitment will be with sick children for the singer from Nice.
