The State-Region agreement concerning the essential works for the survival of the TER lines of the Côte Bleue (Marseille-Miramas), Nice/Breil-sur-Roya/Tende and the Étoile de Veynes (Hautes-Alpes) which cover a total of 435 km of routes, was signed this Monday by the Minister Delegate in charge of transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, and the President of the Region, Renaud Muselier.
This agreement provides for the mobilization of 580 million euros in the coming years. This sum will allow for the execution of works, maintenance, and modernization of the tracks.
Facilitating the movement of residents and promoting eco-mobility are priorities for the South Region. The improvement of TER lines and the resolution of traffic bottlenecks are confirmed through new partnerships.
In line with the precepts of the Climate Plan “a COP ahead,” the Region has made the development of eco-mobility one of its priorities for air quality and the well-being of its inhabitants.
This agreement strengthens the action undertaken by the Region in favor of the quality of the TER service throughout its territory. Beyond the resources necessary to achieve current results, strong negotiations conducted with the SNCF have also contributed.
With only 2% cancellations and 90% of trains arriving on time, the entire TER network has experienced a 14% increase in patronage compared to 2016, despite the impact of the COVID-19 crisis.
On the same day, the Region commits to co-financing works to resolve 13 everyday road black spots alongside Vinci Autoroutes, the Departments of Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var, and Vaucluse, the Aix-Marseille Provence and Nice-Côte d’Azur Metropolises, as well as the State.
As part of this commitment, 460 million euros are planned over the next 10 years to create road developments: interchanges and half-interchanges to better connect areas to highways and eliminate daily traffic jams, particularly during peak hours.
