The Auditorium of the consular hotel was quite full for the official launch of the 1st cohort of Team Espoir CDOS 06, with a large portion of the 35 selected young athletes (who signed the membership charter) present, along with civil authorities and numerous representatives of the sports movement.
The CDOS 06, a key network of the regional sports movement already heavily involved in promoting sports for all, health sports, and the structuring of sports associations, with well-established actions in the 06 region, has embarked on a new challenge with its focus on High-Level sports practice.
The “Team Espoirs” project was led by Jean-Luc Petit who, in the opening, wanted to remind everyone of its origins: “The consideration of athletes, their sacrifices, and their success in their dual athletic and professional careers, or even their daily lives, is often overlooked by national entities that openly express ambitions regarding rankings and sports results in major international competitions, specifically the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
This initiative’s innovative value was thus entrusted to Charline Gartner, a high-level athlete who is well-acquainted with the issue.
For Emilie Fer, Olympic champion and project sponsor, “The motto of Team Espoirs CDOS 06 is to provide our young athletes the means to shine during these competitions, while helping them secure a professional future. These young talents are, above all, young women and men with academic or professional obligations alongside their sports careers, and the goal of the program is to support them in their dual paths.”
“The Sports and Professionalization Commission and the Athletes Commission have worked together to implement an innovative and effective tool that supports our young champions in successfully managing their dual sports and academic/professional careers, with the support of dynamic and concerned local partners,” said Manuel Dureuil, Vice President of CDOS, who was standing in for Philippe Manassereo, who was occupied with his duties within the Basketball Federation.
