The walkers question citizens about Europe.

Latest News

The walkers of the department participated in this extensive door-to-door survey, completing more than 400 questionnaires.

Barath Tripard, European coordinator of La Rรฉpublique En Marche for the Alpes-Maritimes, states: “Our approach was primarily aimed at giving a voice to the residents of the department without trying to convince them. This open dialogue was for us an essential condition to objectively assess the perception of the EU. Thus, we gave plenty of space to open-ended questions to better understand the different nuances.”

Some figures…and comments

Nearly 50% of respondents expect the EU to improve their economic situation, while 47% are concerned with the management of migration flows. Finally, the defense and security of Europeans need to be better assured for 46% of them.

On a national level, however, the order is different: the challenge of security and defense comes first, followed by the economy, ecology, and migration challenge.

Among the weaknesses of the EU that they wish to see corrected, the lack of solidarity, social issues (purchasing power, precariousness, unemployment), followed by social and fiscal harmonization rank highest.

To the credit of the EU, the Euro and freedom of movement are considered assets.
Regardless of their dissatisfactions and expectations, 81% of the citizens consulted agree with the notion that Europe is needed to face global challenges and to contribute to France’s success in globalization.
