This Friday marked the 10th closing ceremony of the “job discovery internships of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, the city of Nice, and its Communal Social Action Center.”
Maty Diouf, deputy delegate for women’s rights, gender equality, and the fight against discrimination, was all in red and smiling. She personally handed out the internship certificates.
Municipal police, social action, public relations, green spaces, AnimaNice centers, digital security, and many other services opened their doors to the 264 middle school students participating in this year’s program. During this week of discovery, the teenagers gained an unprecedented understanding of the municipality.
Proud of the students, but also of herself, Maty Diouf is the originator of this program of sharing and exchange. Ten years ago, she fought alongside Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, for these internships to exist right inside the city hall. Over 2,500 middle school students have, in ten years, entered the premises and discovered new careers and new ways of operating.
This educational project may perhaps spark a passion among the students. The future mayor might have been among them…
