Our friend and collaborator Thierry Jan does not limit himself to sharing his impressions only in the culture section of Nice Premium. He is also on his second literary attempt, to which we wish the same success as the first.
We have already followed with pleasure Commissioner Hennic during his first investigation in Villefranche-sur-Mer.
This time, he takes us to the Var Valley, between three small villages and more particularly to a house that seems struck by bad luck. The investigation begins with what appears to be a banal hunting accident, except that the victims are neither hunters nor hikers.
Through paintings, we discover a swindler, two newlyweds, a painting enthusiast, and the life of an old lady, who was very well known on the Provence train line. We thus travel on this line. As in the first investigation, Commissioner Hennic unravels the thread of these crimes using his method.
Step by step, he progresses thanks to a simple notebook where all the paintings are recorded. They are pieces of a puzzle, that of a treasure map possibly hidden near Malaussène, Massoins, or Villars. The novel builds up, each page reveals a part of the story, a captivating and very absorbing detective novel.
The author has created his character: Commissioner Hennic is now famous, and a third investigation is planned for 2015. We eagerly await it.
