The American company will resume non-stop service between Nice Côte d’Azur and Washington D.C. starting from summer 2026. This resumption is accompanied by the continuation of a daily flight between Nice and New York/Newark. Together, they strengthen the transatlantic offering from the Côte d’Azur.
United Airlines confirms the return of a direct connection between Nice and Washington D.C. for the summer season of 2026. The American company will operate four flights per week non-stop between Nice Côte d’Azur airport and its hub at Washington/Dulles.
This resumption is part of a broader strategy to develop transatlantic connections from Nice. In addition to the route to Washington D.C., United Airlines will maintain a daily non-stop flight between Nice and New York/Newark. The combination of these two seasonal routes will result in an increase of more than 33% in the number of seats offered between Nice and the United States in 2026, compared to the year 2024.
The France network of the company indeed includes daily year-round flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle 1 and the hubs of New York/Newark, Washington/Dulles, and Chicago O’Hare. Another connection links Paris-Charles de Gaulle 1 to San Francisco almost year-round. In this context, Nice holds a specific place, with services concentrated on the summer season and oriented towards the international clientele of the Côte d’Azur.
An offer designed around American hubs
The resumption of the Nice–Washington D.C. route also aims to strengthen access to connections offered from American hubs. Washington/Dulles and New York/Newark are major entry points into the company’s domestic and international network. From these platforms, more than 90 destinations are accessible across the entire American continent.
“We are delighted to return to Nice for the summer season of 2026,” said Grégoire Dutoit, Country Sales Manager France, United Airlines. “Our direct flights to the United States offer more travel choices to our customers from Nice and the Côte d’Azur, who benefit not only from non-stop connections to New York/Newark and Washington D.C., but also from seamless connections via our hubs to more than 90 destinations across the entire American continent.”
From the perspective of airport managers, this announcement falls within a strategic continuity. The Nice platform is looking to strengthen long-haul connections, particularly to North America. The resumption of this direct line is perceived as a lever of connectivity for the region.
“We thank United Airlines for its renewed confidence,” said Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Airports of the Côte d’Azur. “The mission of Nice Côte d’Azur airport is to directly connect its region to major cities worldwide. The connections between the South of France and the United States, whose success continues to grow each year, are at the heart of our strategy, developed in partnership with airlines.”
