This Tuesday, a visit to the construction site of tram line 3 was organized in the presence of Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice. It took place at the location of the future “Les Arboras Universitรฉ” station.

After 11 years of maturation, 2019 is the big year of completion,” announced Christian Estrosi. Since June 30, 2018, users have been able to use the CADAM-Magnan section of tram line 2. Line 3 will serve 11 stations with a total of 7 km of track. 6 trams will run between Airport Terminal 2 and Saint-Isidore.

It’s at one of the 6 future stations, “Les Arboras Universitรฉ,” that we were able to see the progress of the construction site, with a bonus view of the Allianz Riviera stadium. “We are ahead of schedule on the construction site, if we maintain the pace it could be delivered by early November 2019. We are also keen on landscaping, everything will be completed for the start of the Women’s World Cup,” declared Christian Estrosi.

We are already expecting 12,000 passengers per day starting in 2020, and significantly reduced travel times. For example, it will take only 18 minutes to reach the airport from Saint-Isidore. It should also be noted that a park-and-ride facility with 210 spaces will be built with direct access to line 3. Ultimately, the entire Var plain will benefit from the tram, promoting the installation of businesses, research laboratories, or social housing.

In September, the first tests will mark the completion of a project that will have cost a little more than 58 million euros.
