The Brazilian international, Dante, signed with OGC Nice this Monday. At 32 years old, he boasts a track record as long as your arm with a Champions League, a Confederations Cup, and numerous national titles. He’s the first experienced signing of this summer transfer window, perhaps not the last…
The Brazilian fortnight is therefore not over. Less than 24 hours after the handover from Rio to Tokyo for the next Olympic Games, Brazil remains in the spotlight on the Côte d’Azur with the arrival of Dante. The Brazilian central defender brings his experience from his 32 years of age and his 9 seasons with the top German league teams (Bayern Munich 4 seasons, Borussia Mönchengladbach 4 seasons, and Wolfsburg 1 season).
He knows the green and yellow jersey
Dante is a Brazilian international. The new Nice player has worn the Seleção jersey 13 times since 2013, scoring two goals. It is with the prestigious yellow jersey and blue shorts that he won the 2013 Confederations Cup at home before participating in the World Cup a year later. On July 8, he was notably part of the “collapse team” in the semifinals (1-7 against Germany)… In Europe, the central defender already counts 50 European matches (Champions League and Europa League). The European cup was one of the key arguments for the Nice club (group stage draw this Friday around 1 pm).
Lille, an acquaintance
Having arrived on the Côte d’Azur on Sunday, Dante met his teammates on Monday. He also had time to see the Allianz Riviera, which he will officially discover (on the field, bench, or stands) on Saturday for the match against Lille… a club he played for between 2003 and 2006. Dante’s move to the Eagles is anything but insignificant when you look at his CV and that of Lucien Favre. The two professionals knew each other for 6 months at Borussia Mönchengladbach before Dante moved to Bayern Munich. Five years later, they meet again in Ligue 1, in Nice.
