Twinning between Nice and Cuneo: Presentation of the 12th National Chestnut Fair at the Italian Consulate in Nice

Latest News

It is at the invitation of the President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Nice that the Mayor of this city will be present in Nice on Thursday, September 30th to present the 12th National Chestnut Fair.

A golden opportunity to renew contacts and friendships between the people of Nice and Cuneo.

We take this occasion to provide our readers with some additional information about this city which, it should be noted, has been twinned with Nice for a long time.

Cuneo was formed as a result of erosion caused by the meeting of the Gesso torrent and the Stura river, giving the city its characteristic shape.

Via Roma, the main street of the historic center, is lined with ancient buildings, from Sant’Ambrogio to the Town Hall, from the Torre Palace to the Cathedral. The narrower streets contain treasures like the churches of Santa Maria, Santa Chiara, and Santa Croce, Contrada Mondovi, the Synagogue, the Toselli Theater, and the medieval city dominated by the old Church of San Francesco.

Galimberti Square is the venue for all the most important events and the traditional Tuesday market which attracts many French neighbors.

The modern city begins with Corso Nizza, one of the most elegant avenues, featuring arcades that are a characteristic of Cuneo.

The avenues and gardens have made Cuneo the green capital of Piedmont: Viale degli Angeli stretches for three kilometers to the sanctuary of the Madonna degli Angeli and, for 250 years, more than 1,200 trees have been the silent witnesses of the city.
