Christian Estrosi welcomed a delegation of Vietnamese dignitaries, including Duong Chi Dung, the Vietnamese Ambassador to France, and Dinh Toan Thang, Minister Counselor, to sign a twinning charter between the City of Nice and the City-Province of Can Tho.

The mayor of Nice was accompanied by Rudy Salles, Deputy for International Relations, Professor Albert Marouani, President of UNS, Emmanuel Bouvier, General Director of the CHU, Philippe Jourdan, Director of the Departmental Education Service, and Denis Zanon, Director of the Tourism Office.

“Two cities joining their futures, this is an important moment. Two cities as far apart as Nice and Can Tho deciding to share their potentials is a sign that our world today is based, above all, on connection and exchange,” said Christian Estrosi in his welcoming speech.

This twinning follows the decision made by the two cities to intensify their exchanges during the 8th Franco-Vietnamese Decentralized Cooperation Conference held in Haiphong, Vietnam, in November 2010.

This decentralized cooperation will be reflected in the areas of higher education, health, and culture.

The Vietnamese delegation thus met with officials from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, the CHU of Nice, attended a performance at the Nice Opera, and visited the Matisse Museum.
