In August, the number of registered job seekers at Pรดle emploi in category A increased by 50,200 in mainland France. This represents an increase of 1.4% compared to the previous month, more than making up for the dramatic drop of 19,000 people registered in category A in July.
In August, 3.5 million people were registered in the institution’s records.
In the Alpes-Maritimes, at the end of August 2016, the number of job seekers (category A) stood at 70,540, representing an increase of 2.2% over three months (+1,510 people). It rose by 1.3% over one month and by 1.5% over one year.
In Paca, this number increased by 2.5% over three months, by 1.2% over one month, and by 1.3% over one year (328,220 job seekers at the end of August 2016).
Although it increased in August, the number of category A job seekers actually decreased by 0.3% over three months. Additionally, since the beginning of the year, 23,700 fewer people were registering with Pรดle emploi every month.
The government, which is counting on a growth of 1.5% for 2016, hopes that the Unedic’s forecasts (-124,000 fewer unemployed over the year) will come true.
