On Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Place Masséna, three volunteers, Faiza, Noémya, and Hedi, hosted a space for exchange and meeting on this topic, drawing the attention of the residents of Nice to the importance of voting.
In view of the 2012 deadlines, the association Unis Cité educates its 28 volunteers on the functioning of democracy, the importance of registering on electoral lists, and expressing themselves by voting.
Unis Cité Méditerranée hosts 28 Civic Service volunteers in Nice. These 28 young people, from diverse backgrounds and levels of qualification, work as a team for solidarity and the public interest. In addition to their daily missions, the volunteers develop their civic engagement through meeting committed actors or those with representative mandates. These encounters help change their perceptions and preconceived ideas they might have on various themes such as gender equality, political representation, and the role of elected officials.
- Unis-Cité is one of the pioneering associations of Civic Service in France. Present in about thirty cities in France, it has already mobilized more than 6,000 volunteers and mobilized 1,400 during the year 2010-2011. The Civic Service model proposed by Unis-Cité brings together young people from all social and cultural backgrounds and all levels of education, who work in teams on various missions in response to the social and environmental needs of their territory.
