The Nice Volley Ball team made a comeback last night in their arena against Saint Quentin. A victory achieved with a score of 3 sets to zero. Thanks to this success, the Azuréens solidify their third place on the podium of Ligue B.
Doubt could not be allowed to set in. After their defeat against Martigues last week, victory was imperative for Nice Volley Ball.
However, the Niçois struggled to get into the match. Saint Quentin led the conversation until midway through the first set, before Mladen’s men decided to step up their game.
Driven particularly by Nemanja Cubrillo, who tormented the opposing reception with his smashed serves, and Raphael Corre, who distributed the play well and delighted his teammates in attack, Mladen Kasic’s men inflicted a crushing 21-11 on the northerners to win the first set.
In the second set, NVB continued their momentum. The Azuréens quickly took the lead. Still strong in service and attack, they repeatedly scored points. Jérome Clerre took control of the game. The Niçois opposite was unstoppable and relentless against the northern block. He scored 7 points in the second set, and NVB was just one step away from victory.
A contested third set
In the final round, the northerners offered strong resistance to the Niçois volleyball players. The two teams exchanged blows throughout the set, but Mladen Kasic’s men showed impressive mental strength. Raphael Corre fed his two central players with balls, and managed to make a difference. The locals narrowly claimed the last set, 26-24.
The next meeting for NVB is in the Plessis-Robinson arena.
